From 2009 the role-play card with only one language (English or Irish) will be the card given to the candidate at the oral examination. The bi-lingual cards (English/Italian or Irish/Italian are for classroom use to help students build up vocabulary and prepare for the oral examination.

The French Oral examination will consist of an interview. During this interview, candidates will have the option of answering questions on one of the following types of material which they have worked on:

• An article from a newspaper or magazine
• A picture
• A project
• A literary work
